手太阴肺经 (Hand Lung-Taiyin meridian) and more

Finally, after a week of bizarre TCM flying tongues and hidden spleen theories, I'm finally introduced to what I cam here for... the Acupuncture. Not only is Banana girl learning the anatomy of meridians and the points, you might notice some Shanghai-tang chinese phrases I've cleverly written in the title (ok thats not really what Shanghai people go round saying... and fine, the computer did that.. but wait till you see my notebook!)
But seriously, learning chinese has never been more amusing! The thing about TCM is understanding Chinese makes it so much easier to understanding its principals. Hence I felt like a little eager ah-lian asking my teacher how to write everything she mentioned in Chinese.  It's amazing how Chinese people have a way of coming up with rhymes and phrases for everything - meridians and its directions of travel: 阴升阳降 (yin ascends, yang descends); the system of memorizing acupoints using natural phenomena which they are named after (e.g. how water flow from wells to oceans to remember points from small to large joints) They make things seem so easy. Brings me back to the days in Chinese school (scary) where we memorized multiplication tables (which I use til today: yi-er-er, er-er-shi,er-san-liu etc... i.e. 1-2-2, 2-2-4, 3-2-6...) Yes, 香蕉小姐 (Little Ms. Banana) is back the primary school days of memorizing ancient Meridian rhymes in Chinese to facilitate her lessons.

p.s. Father dearest, if you read this, you'll be proud to know that I've ventured beyond the kidneys. I can even write 肾!
